There are many additions on the 7th and 8th grade art web page.

You can view some great little animations from the 7th grade and the 8th grade clay project. They created a tea pot and tea cup. We finished the project with a Fun Tea Party. Enjoy the 1st quarter webpage. It will eventually change with the 2nd quarter art projects.

A new school year is about to start. There will be a few changes on the pages I will be working on . I will make pages for the Visual Arts and Performing Arts( Music Concerts, Drama and Talent Show. I will also maintain the “Sports MVPs” for the High School students.

I am compiling a CD filled with all the WebPages and pictures from your 7th and 8th grade. Everything I ever put on the web will be on this CD for you to enjoy. The BIGGEST YEAR BOOK on a CD! Look on the back of this page to see what is on the CD. The CD will work with Apple computers and Windows 98, Me, XP or Vista.

           The cost of the CD is $15.00. You will need to place your order to Mrs. Hussey with your payment. The CD will be mailed to you 2 weeks or so after school gets out.

   I would like to thank you for purchasing this CD. Not only will you have a great CD with thousands of pictures and short movies, you are also helping me and my future students in improving technology in my classroom. I also consider your purchase as a thank you for the countless hours I spent working on the web pages for your enjoyment.

7th Grade Students

Massabesic Middle School was a busy place on April 16, 2009. During the Award Assembly held in the morning, Students were recognized for :

*Recognition committee awards: certificates for high honors/honor roll
*Recognition of sports/activities groups
*Individual awards “Ready Respectful Responsible”
Specialists- one student per class
 Teams- 3 students per team
“The Big 1’s”well-rounded citizenship award for one student per team
*Student Recognition- Mustang passes 

In the afternoon Students who were detention and I.S.S. free for the quarter attended the “Good Behavior Blast” Some of the activities offered were Kite flying, kic ball, ultimita frisbee, Open Mic, Dance, face Painting, Quiet Room, Chess, Bingo, Popcorn and Snacs, Computer Lab and Movie Room.

The 3rd quarter Art page is all up to date. Be sure to lokk at all the great art created this past quarter, As the 4th quarter progress, their work will replace the 3rd  quarter students.

Our 2nd quarter students just finished creating their own computer generated animations. The MLTI program, unique to the the State of Maine, helps to make this project a reality. Every student is issued the use of a laptop for their two years at the Middle School.  This project helps students to explore additional uses of their computer beyond word processing and web surfing. This was a very exciting project, the results of which you can see by checking out the MMS animation page.
       We started this project with a lesson on cartooning.  Afterwards, each student brainstormed ideas for their own animation.  Students then drew, painted, outlined and cut their cartoon characters and backgrounds out of paper.  Utilizing a digital camera and the Apple iMovie software, students began constructing their animations, frame-by-frame. After the animation was complete, students added a soundtrack (often mixing voice and music).  Once the animation was finished, it was rendered as a QuickTime movie.  Each movie has been uploaded to the school server and is available for viewing here.
